The 10th edition of the Language Resources and Evaluation Conference (LREC 2016) will take place in Portorož (Slovenia) on 23-28 May 2016, and FREME presents its innovations.
Since the first edition held in Granada in 1998, LREC has become the major event on Language Resources (LRs) and evaluation for Language Technologies (LT). The aim of LREC is to provide an overview of the state-of-the-art, explore new R&D directions and emerging trends, exchange information regarding LRs and their applications, evaluation methodologies and tools, ongoing and planned activities, industrial uses and needs, requirements coming from the e-society, both with respect to policy issues and to technological and organisational ones. LREC provides a unique forum for researchers, industrials and funding agencies from across a wide spectrum of areas to discuss problems and opportunities, find new synergies and promote initiatives for international cooperation, in support to investigations in language sciences, progress and innovation in language technologies and development of corresponding products, services and applications, and standards.
Having said that, LREC is a very important opportunity for disseminating results of FREME, making people working in these fields aware of latest development. For this reason FREME will present a poster during “Session P51 – Multilingual Corpora” on 27 May (between 11:45 and 13:25). The poster is strictly connected to the paper entitled “FREME: Multilingual Semantic Enrichment with Linked Data and Language Technologies” and authored by project’s partners.
On top of this, FREME delegates will be more than pleased to meet people interested in understanding how the open framework deployed within the project may help in narrowing the gap between the actual business needs and the language and linked data technologies. Prof. Felix Sasaki (Project Coordinator) and Dr. Milan Dojchinovski will be available in the exhibition area with a dedicated booth during the three-days event. Book your appoinment with them by filling in your data in the FREME Appointment Booking Tool.
FREME will be also presented during the poster session of the LDL 2016 (24 May 2016, 14:00-14:40), the 5th Workshop on Linked Data in Linguistics: Managing, Building and Using Linked Language Resources, organized by the Open Linguistics Working Group of the Open Knowledge Foundation. LDL is the most important forum for presenting, discussing and disseminating technologies, vocabularies, resources and experiences regarding the application of Semantic Web standards and the Linked Open Data paradigm to language resources in order to facilitate their visibility, accessibility, interoperability, reusability, enrichment, combined evaluation and integration.
Finally, Dr. Giuseppe Rizzo – researche at ISMB – will present his research activities on FREME-related topics thanks to two papers entitled “Context-enhanced Adaptive Entity Linking” (Session 8, 26 May 2016, 15:05-15:25) and “Evaluating Entity Linking: An Analysis of Current Benchmark Datasets and a Roadmap for Doing a Better Job” (Session 47, 28 May 2016, 14:55-15:15) respectively.
